She ...This is Arthur Bingham, son of Helen Bingham. She was the author of the article about Jacob Haish and the book from which it came, “My Scrapbook of Collections and Recollections”. I was pleased for the ‘Twist in History: The Jacob Haish Story”. So would have been my mother as her objective with this book was to shed light on the realness of the lives of common folks for the reader. To her, all stories of the notable and the less well known have value and are relevant. The stories of real people living through the experiences they did in the ways they did can portray vibrant illustrations of noble values that help to ground us in each of our todays. It was a passion to her to remember all of these. It was a mission to write in book even with the great difficulty she had to research and compile. She was housebound before any internet access. She labored under severe physical restraints and constant pain. The mission of the publication of this book energized and focused what energy she had and she became herself a unwritten example of courage, determination and grit like the many she illuminated. There were many other stories that she did not have time to include. I have them. I have the publishers manuscript. I have the compilation of poems Barry Schrader wrote about. These too need to be told, remembered, valued and most of quietly considered and infused into lives in the process of living in the same patterns of life. Thank you for posting this piece. Thank you for the appreciation of her vision. I see the work is not yet done....Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03031247354050091034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7705628516077730729.post-72240671660475670862021-05-09T22:05:59.013-05:002021-05-09T22:05:59.013-05:00I am Arthur Bingham the son of Helen’s who Barry S...I am Arthur Bingham the son of Helen’s who Barry Schrader made mention of. She was a gifted writer and someone who was a dedicated friend to so many and in turn as her life gave her fewer and fewer options for mobility and health this book became a true act of friendship to all who may read it. It was a passion to her. It became a personal mission to present and preserve the stories of the notable and even more importantly the written witness of the lives of more common folk in whose lives are seen real efforts of real people struggling with some triumphs over the obstacles of their lives. She saw and felt that revelance. She lived this way her whole life. She related to the realness of these unsung as well as those more known to us. I am grateful she wrote this book and cast a light of respect and honor on the many she did. There were many other stories that weren’t included. I have these. I also have the printer’s manuscript. I have always wanted to reprint the book and include the unpublished material. Perhaps some of her poetry could be included which would be a treasured gift. She could turn a phrase in a very real way so fact and emotion balanced in a portrayal that springs to life those real situations with real people dealing with those very real circumstances. Thank you so much for your kind posting and may you receive kindness in return.
